- JoMart Hand Crafted Chocolates - - - - - - - - Gift Card -JoMart has always been part of my life. My earliest memory is going with my dad to the factory on East New York Avenue. My dad showed me how to “glue” candy eyes to chocolate bunnies that he made. I remember, I wasn’t yet 9, and we went out for lunch at White Castle - which was located on Eastern Parkway.
Things changed when JoMart moved to our present location. In the past there was our factory at one location and a retail location nearby. Now it was all in one place in a quiet residential neighborhood near where we lived.
At the age of 9 (at the new location) I started to learn new jobs - with a keen eye from everyone!
Over the decades I continued to learn new skills, some I was good at (warming medal molds over an open fire) and some not so much (ask Debbi how I wrap gift boxes) and worked alongside my parents, my aunts and my sister. Over 15 years working on school holidays and after a first life as a special education teacher, I started my second life as a candy maker.
And now, 5 decades later, I am still here, still learning new skills, still making candy, still surrounded by my family.
